Man arrested for making, using counterfeit cash in Middle Tennessee
RED BOILING SPRINGS, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 21-year-old Tennessee man arrested this week is accused of manufacturing and using counterfeit money at local businesses. Man arrested for making, using counterfeit cash in Middle Tennessee
Police Red Boiling Springs began their investigation Monday after $10 and $20 dollar bills were passed at a market. More bills were found at the market later that day, all bearing the same serial number.
After combing through surveillance footage, police were able to identify Cody L. Ray of Clay County as the person who used the fake cash. Officers went to Ray’s home and found more counterfeit money on him.
Further investigation uncovered an abandoned mobile home hear Ray’s residence containing items used to make counterfeit bills.
Ray was taken into custody and booked into the Macon County Jail. He’s charged with criminal simulation and criminal attempts to commit theft.
Red Boiling Springs police say they are still recovering fake cash from the community. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
